A small she-cat padded out of the Warrior's Den, eyes glinting in the light. She yawned as she looked around the LedgeClan camp, before stretching. Windblade padded towards the fresh-kill pile, eyes bright and awake, even moments after sleep. The Deputy took a mouse, and sat down, eating quickly.

Windblade finished her mouse, and curled her tail round her paws. " Hello Summerfiel." She meowed calmly to the she-cat, eyes resting on her for a moment, before darting away to look at the Deputy's surroundings. Windblade smiled slightly at Summerfield, as her gaze returned to the Warrior.

A sleek, black shape trotted out of the leader's den, moving gracefully in the quick gait over the ground. Ebonystar glanced around the clearing, scenting the air and nodding to herself; it smelled like rain out here, and although that could be considered bothersome for the Clan, it would help the forest in which they lived to thrive.
Spotting her deputy Windblade and several warrior clustered around the fresh-kill pile, Ebonystar moved to join them, her paws feeling light with each step. She hadn't felt this good since before she became leader, she decided, and that was most definitely a good thing. Perhaps today would not hold any horrible revelations, unlike some of the days before - maybe the threat of the mysterious NightClan would be quelled for just one day, or so she had to hope.
"Hello, everyone," she said as casually as she could, nodding to each cat in turn to greet them. It was so nice to see her Clan together like this, peaceful despite the prospect of damp weather on the horizon; it almost made her think that NightClan had been just another nightmare of hers, nothing more than a bad dream and something of her imagination. "Good hunting to you all - Windblade, have you organized today's patrols yet?"
Patrols were more of a distracting subject for her, Ebonystar realized; she was acting like it was any other day, nothing to fear but the occasional foxes and badgers, as well as the other Clans. But no tensions had arisen between them recently - no, her Clan was safe from that much for now.

" Not yet Ebonystar." Windblade meowed, dipping her head to her leader, and smiling slightly, glad to see her in an almost happy mood. " I'll take a patrol out now, if you like." She added, standing and stretching, before looking at Ebonystar and waiting for a response.

Ebonystar nodded slowly, wondering if her mood showed through; perhaps her Clan mates would think it odd for her to be so happy when all of their lives might be threatened at any time...Probably they did, in fact, but it didn't really make a large difference. They couldn't always focus on the bad things, could they?
"Yes, Windblade, I would appreciate that," Ebonystar pronounced, smiling at her deputy's offer. Thank goodness she had such loyal cats to get her through this dark time; otherwise she wasn't sure what she would do with herself or the entire Clan. Sometimes all she could ask for was a little help, and that was what she was getting from all of LedgeClan nowadays - she couldn't help but feel extremely grateful toward her Clan.
"Make sure to keep an eye out for anything unusual," the leader continued, knowing just as well as any cat that not only NightClan had to be in their line of focus. "If you see or scent anything from one of the other Clans - or any rogue scent, for that matter - report back to me, and I'll send a larger patrol to investigate with you. Please don't take any chances if you can possibly avoid it."
Ebonystar knew that Windblade would already have thought of that - but it was better to be safe than sorry, and she hated to think of what would happen if she lost any of these trustworthy cats for some reason.

" Sure, I don't mind." Windblade meowed to Summerfield, before nodding at her leader, eyes serious. " Of course Ebonystar. I'll take Summerfield now, but if we see or scent anything unusual, we'll come right back." She meowed, reassuringly to the cat. " Ready Summerfield?"

Daisychain came loping from the Nursery at that moment, precious peace away from Cyberkit and Mechakit. "Good afternoon Ebonystar, Windblade." she nodded to them both, a faint glint of amusement in her eyes seeing Ebonystar so gay and joyful. She nodded to Summerfield also though she did not acknowlge her as she did Ebonystar and Windblade.

" Hi Daisychain. Summerfield and I are just going on patrol, so I'll see you later." Windblade meowed, smiling at the queen, before padding out of camp.

Daisychain frowned, dismayed that Windblade hadn't offered her to go with them. Daisychain was still a warrior after all, merely the fact that she had kits changed everything. Daisychain sighed, and glanced to Ebonystar, questioning eyes sparkled.

Ebonystar noticed Daisychain's approach out of the corner of her eye, and returned the queen's nod with one of her own. "Good afternoon to you, Daisychain," she replied courteously, smiling at the memory that the other she-cat had two very lively kits still in the nursery.
"How are Mechakit and Cyberkit? Behaving themselves for you, I hope," the leader said with a soft smile, thinking of the Clan's two youngest members. Kits could be quite a pawful, but Daisychain knew quite well what she was doing as a mother; she wasn't a first-time parent, that much Ebonystar knew well.
Catching the look in the queen's eyes, Ebonystar raised one eyebrow in surprise - usually, the nursing queens didn't leave camp on patrol or other long trips until their kits had grown enough to eat fresh-kill. Did Daisychain really intend to go with them?
The leader shuddered briefly as she thought of just what large consequences could result if the patrol was attacked by any enemies; Daisychain's kits could be left without a mother to care for them, to keep them safe...But surely, Ebonystar corrected herself, the other she-cat was well prepared to defend her own life - having kits had, if anything, made that instinct even stronger in her; she had someone else to live for but herself each day.
"Windblade," Ebonystar said, nodding to Daisychain again to show that she understood the unspoken request. "Perhaps if Daisychain's kits are asleep, you could take her with you on the patrol, as well? Being cooped up in the nursery for so long must be tiresome to one's nerves."

Daisychain flicked the most grateful gaze at Ebonystar. Noise came yowling from the nursery, as Cyberkit and Mechakit came flying out of the nursery and piledriving onto Daisychain. She hissed, and picked them up with her mouth and gently placed them on the ground of the clearing. Cyberkit cast a gaze up at her mother, and Mechakit padded to the opening of the nursery, feeling content just by being within eyesight of Daisychain.
"Mother, when are we gonna be apprentices?" Cyberkit mewed. Typical Cyberkit.. Daisychain thought, but then again, her mind wandered to how old they were. 1, 2, 3... Cyberkit and Mechakit were acctually 8 moons old. "Ebonystar.." Daisychain spoke, and turned her head to face Ebonystar. "I think Cyberkit acctually has a point. They're 8 moons old. Isn't that the age when kits are apprenticed?"
Mechakit sat in silence, gazing hatefully at Cyberkit. He didn't want to leave his mom yet and Cyberkit had to go and yap like a mangy fox. Cyberkit looked back at Mechakit and smirked, getting up and swatting his nose with her miniscule paw, still keeping her claws in. Mechakit hissed. His neckfur stood on end, and he got up to cuff her 'round the ear. Cyberkit, in responce, tackled Mechakit and starting nipping him.
By this time Daisychain had noticed Mechakit's muffled squeal of terror. She bounded over and pried Cyberkit from Mechakit's body, and sat her down on the right side of her body, placing a paw over her tail. "Cyberkit appologize." Daisychain meowed bluntly, and Cyberkit laid her ears flat as she spat an appology. Daisychain let go of Cyberkit then, and padded back over to Ebonystar. "Terribly sorry.." Daisychain grinned, and cast a fond glance backwards at Cyberkit and Mechakit just as thye began to argue who would make a better warrior.

It was rather amazing to Ebonystar just how big the two shapes that came hurtling out of the nursery were; the last time she had seen Cyberkit and Mechakit, they had been about half the size they were now. Accordingly, the leader took on an expression of mild shock, before laughing at her own silliness. Had she really forgotten?
"Indeed, Daisychain, it would seem these two have outgrown their positions as kits of LedgeClan," Ebonystar chuckled good-humoredly, nodding to each of the kits in turn. Cyberkit looked excited and predictably energetic; the leader could easily tell that she was the most eager of the two to get going on her apprenticeship.
Mechakit, on the other hand, looked quite anxious and uneasy. That one might need a little extra coaxing to come out of his shell, she reasoned silently, smile widening as the kit shot his sister a mutinous glare. How on earth did I miss them growing up so much?
"I'll hold the ceremony soon, I promise you both," Ebonystar said kindly, knowing that her words were as much for Daisychain's benefit as her children's. The queen had obviously been in the nursery too long for her own liking, and having these energetic furballs climbing all over her -- although Ebonystar was quite sure that Cyberkit did more of that than her brother -- certainly wouldn't help.
"Until then," the leader added, a gleam in her eyes as she glanced at the two kits again. "Why don't you two see what you can do to help around the camp while your mother goes on patrol? That way, we can be sure you're good and ready for your apprenticeship."

Cyberkit spun around with massive owl-eyes gleaming brilliantly. "Oh really!?" Cyberkit meowed. She sounded so anxious to Daisychain, that she might have a fit if delayed any moment longer. Cyberkit flat-out ran her hardest to the apprentice den and her mews of excitment drifed from there to Mechakit's flattened ears.
"Oh... awesome, I guess..." he murmured, then loped off to Sagewind's den intently. Daisychain sighed, and looked at Mechakit only a fraction of a second before his miniscule shape evaporated into Sagewind's den. She flicked her eyes to Ebonystar, and shook her body as if to be rid of water. "I can tell he wants so much to be a medicine cat, but I know he'll make such a great warrior. His talents are so much like his fathers..." And here was where Daisychain paused, as if the memory of thier slaughtered father was too much for the queen to handle.
Daisychain was in fact correct, that his talents were far greater than he gave them credit. She also knew that Cyberkit would, in a second, give up simply living to have the chance of becoming something that Mechakit would have a challenge facing. Of course, Cyberkit knew that dieing would be far too rash for if she did there would be no way to accomplish such an effortful goal.
She chuckled again and closed her eyes as Cyberkit's joyous mews came rapidly from the den to the clearing in where she bounded up to Ebonystar in much enthusiasim. "You aren't gonna let Sagewind mentor Mechakit, are you...?" Cyberkit inquiried. Daisychain could help but laugh aloud for the look on CYberkit's face was all too humorous. Cyberkit... she knew what it meant if a medicine cat mentored an apprentice and this was far from what Cyberkit might have a conception of perfect. Why, if Mechakit was mentored by Sagewind she knew that he'd become a medicine cat in due time and NEVER have any time extra in which for her to pester him!

Windblade ran back into camp. She looked round, and saw the fresh-kill pile was low. " Hunting Patrol." She murmured, raising her voice. " Does anyone want to volenteer to come on a hunting patrol with me?"
