Snakestar sat in the quiet herb garden, silver fur shining almost as brightly as the moon above. The tom was waiting, waiting for the other three leaders. They had agreed to meet here, and decide whether or not to move from the city, seeking lands unknown, beyond their old territories. Personally, Snakestar wanted to move from the city with all his heart. He had lost a life to the strange sickness that had been going around, before they found the herb to cure it.
But the herb was dangerous too, it could kill an elder or a kit, or any very weak cat... faster than the sickness could. And those that survived both the herb and the illness were not right in the head for a few days.
Snakestar shook his own head, driving these thoughts from it. He needed to meet the other leaders, and by StarClan, he would meet them, if he had to drag them all the way by their tails! But that would not be nessecary. He had asked them, and they had agreed. All that remained now was to wait.
And so the silver cat sat... and waited.

Moonlit rays swirled about with stars, a shimmering effect on the dew nestled onto the leafs of the herbs. Bugs flitted about absently, tending to their own wares and worries, ignoring the silver cat who stuck out from the emerald and shadowed hues sketched into the scene. Fireflies descended then, bottoms glowing, a dazzling amber light, for a moment before flickering off.
The tom entered. His gait was slow, head hung as if ready for attack. The soft brown pools held a tired and yet menacing glare. It was too clear he was tired; his step lagged and tail was held poorly. Ears stood erect and foreward though, lids curtaining his eyes for a long moment before opening halfway again. Yearn for sleep was held in the eyes, and yet he walked forward to meet the metallic other tom. He was second... he hoped the others would hurry up.
"Snakestar..." the tom's voice rasped, yet it wasn't mean nor cold. It was pleading, a kind of tone that suggested far too much of one thing and a desperation to simply escape. Vanitystar was close to loosing his first life; he had just gained his Clan's trust. Would they like him as they did now if he lost a life? They'd find him weak, that's what. He shook his head, and it rose to meet the silvery tom's eyes. The brown hues had a new shade to them, a kindled ember. But weak... his body still drug with ware. He hoped they could move... and soon. [/blockquote]

The grass was crushed softly under a stronger stride. Each paw hit the ground with a dogged determination, however much they hurt. The she-cat's pelt glowed softly as she walked gently through a moonlit area of the approach, a million strange scents swirling rund her.
Her brown pelt returned to is customary dullness as she headed into the shadows. Tired eyes stared fiercly, proudly forwarsd, head still held high despite her aching body, and the exhaustion sweeping over her. Windstar, all nine lives remaining-just. Finally, she sighed in relief, scenting two familiar cats. She padded towards them, quicker than normal. " Snakestar, Vanitystar." The leader gave a tired smile at the other two leaders.
She settled to the ground, legs almost collapsing underneath her. " I hope Willowstar gets here soon." She commented, raising herself enough to lick a paw, and wash the dust and mud from her face.

Snakestar nodded to Vanitystar, and turned to look at him for the first time in a moon. His jaw fell open. What had happened to this cat? In just a month, he had become... sick, ill, weakened? Snakestar didn't think that those words fit the leader. Hopeless. Yes, that fit, and it was an accurate description of how Snakestar felt at the time. The silver tabby closed his narrow yellow-green eyes, and lowered his head.
He looked up at the sound of approaching pawsteps, and his gaze fell upon the brown pelt of Windstar. She, also, looked tired, and weak. Snakestar pricked his ears up. CreekClan could easily take over the territory of these cats! But then he laughed mirthlessly to himself. CreekClan was just as weak, and even if they were not, what would they be fighting for? More of the poisoned land of the city? The amount they had now was killing them fast enough- why should they want more?

Windstar glanced at Snakestar with narrowed, challenging eyes, almost guessing what the other leader had been thinking before he had laughed. She looked round her, taking in the looks of Vanitystar and Snakestar- so weak looking, compared to what they had been. In shock, she gazed down at her scarred, broken paws. Is that what I look like? Is that what my Clan have been looking up to? Windstar questioned herself silently.
" How is CreekClan, in these times?" She asked Snakestar politely, sitting up and waiting calmly for a response.

"Not well." Snakestar barely hesitated before giving away his Clan's weakness. After all, who would want to fight, in these times? It would weaken both Clans too much. And, what would they be fighting over? Just some disease-ridden territory. Not worth a mousetail. And definatly not worth losing lives over.
He did not ask Windstar how well her Clan was doing- it was obvious. As bad as any of the other Clans- or so Snakestar assumed. It was written all over her pelt. Ragged, patchy... Windstar had not been eating well, and she looked weak and shaky. She was no better than Snakestar was.
Snakestar yawned. "I wonder when Willowstar will get here."

Willowstar could hear the soft rasps of the other leader's voices past a nearby bush and as she got closer she could single out which ones had arrived. Her heart was working overtime trying to fend off this strange disease that had already cost her a life. Her paws were weak, tattered and raw, and her slow, painful ambling did nothing for her spirit. Although the grass was a welcoming texture beneath her pads, her joints groaned with the journey.
Finally she broke through the brush and stopped before the other three leaders who seemed just as worn as she. Her once-lovely coat was unkept and coated thick in grime which showed every last bone in her emaciated body. As she sat to complete the circle of four, her mind spun and she swayed danderously from side to side. The musty grey leader shook her head and laid on the ground to remedy her dizziness. Her eyelids were halfway closed with famine and fatigue. She mumbled a weak greeting to the other leaders, her glazed over gaze ran from cat to cat. Oh StarClan. I must look like a walking skeleton compared to them. The thought dwelled in her head for a moment before she dismissed it. There was nothing she could do now. "Well?" She wheezed before spiralling into a violent coughing fit.

" Willowstar." Windstar meowed a soft greeting, dipping her head towards the fellow leader. As Willowstar coughed, Windstar winced, and watched her silently. She sighed quietly to herself, wondering if this was the destiny layed out for them by StarClan; to die one by one.

Willowstar shook her head with grief. "We must leave soon, or else the clans will cease to exist." She pointed the statement to no one specific, her eyelids hanging sleepily over her dull eyes. The leader was curtly reminded of her clan and its struggle against the disease. "Snakestar, Windstar, Vanitystar, we can't keep our clan's strength for another journey if we wait much longer."

Snakestar nodded grimly. "Shall we go and tell our Clans the news? We leave soon? Three days sound good to you? It will take at least that long to prepare our Clans." Snakestar was standing, bristling with excitement, looking more like the strong leader he had once been. He paced back and forth, muttering, "Yes, no point in staying longer than that. It would just give the Clans more time in which to fall ill."
He spun, and glared at the other leaders. "Well?"
Obviously the cat had gone a little crazy. Lack of sleep, worry over his Clan, and the sudden desicion had knocked him silly.

Willowstar looked a bit taken aback by Snakestar's shiftiness. But, she responded nonetheless as strong as her voice could manage, "Yes, we will meet here and wander on far from the putridness of the city." Her voice showed a small hint of what could be relief, and as she turned to leave she spoke once more. "Three nights it shall be, and we shall meet here in time for the full moon to be shining above us." Willowstar wheezed a bit then padded off into the shadows after bidding farewell to the other three leaders.

Snakestar nodded quickly. "Right. See you then." He resumed pacing back and forth, glaring at the other leaders. Hopefully he would calm down. There was a dangerous gleam in his eye... a gleam of insanity.
"What am I waiting for? I shoud be going back to my Clan!" He burst out. Turning, he ran through the herb garden, and smashed into a rock. He stood, groaned, and resumed traveling back to his Clan, at a slower pace.
